Serving God

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." I Peter 2:9 We are not redeemed by God just to enjoy our experience, but to share it. He is not looking for authorities, just witnesses. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so."
"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1 You can tell those who love the Lord by the excuses they find to attend His House. You can also tell those who don't love Him so much by the excuses they seem to find to stay away from His House. Christ loved the Church, and gave Himself for it.
"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." Ecclesiastes 9:10 If more Christians would sincerely put their hands, hearts and heads in the work of the Lord, there would be such a change overnight that it would be hard for the world to recognize the Church.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 The surrendered Christian life is a combination of believing, trusting and telling. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart." "Go tell what great things the Lord hath done for thee.
"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you." I Samuel 12:24 God calls for a great deal more than a part time commitment and a casual approach to Christianity. Seek Him with your whole heart and ye shall find Him.
"He must increase, but I must decrease." St. John 3:30 The business of every Christian is to lift up the Saviour and play down self. The greatest problem of the Church is that we have not held Him up as the answer.
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." Revelation 22:16 Jesus still has a message for the Church today to be delivered by men who will tell it like it is, so that we may no longer be as we are. Preach the Word!
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you [always], even unto the end of the world. Amen." St. Matthew 28:19,20 The average church is designed to suit and seat the people, and all the while God intended it as an instrument to send us! On with the message of love...we have been seated long enough.
"Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain." Philippians 2:16 Here's news, Christian friend. Our greatest job is not explain the Word of God, but to extend it.
"Ye are the light of the world..." St. Matthew 5:14 Not just the Church, not a select few, but each one in his own way that stands for the cause of Christianity. How much light have you been responsible for to dispense the gloom and doubt of a troubled soul yet in darkness?
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Romans 13:12 The person who has the light ought to be shining. Let your light so shine that men may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven.
"As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world." St. John 17:18 The job of every Christian is to continue the work of Christ through personal experience and public example. "Ye are my witnesses."
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." St. Mark 16:15 As we are straining to reach the moon, we are faced with the mounting evidence to suggest that we haven't reached the earth as yet."

"...Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it." Colossians 4:17 God has big jobs that can be filled with little people. "He is no respector of persons."
"But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way." St. Matthew 13:25 Christians ought to be wide awake and up and doing. "The night cometh."
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth..." Ecclesiastes 12:1 You can't give God what's left of life and expect His best. Give Him the best and the rest of your life.
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." St. John 14:15 The need of the hour is for more Christians to obey the Lord's Word and do His work. A good test of our love for God is in how much we trust His Word.
"Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear." Isaiah 59:1 Wherever you are, He can hear you and reach you. Therefore, reach out and take the extended hand of Christ, and then be His instrument to touch a lost and dying world.
"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." St. John 4:35 The heart's cry of every Christian ought to be: "God give me a vision of what can be done and what must be done before it is too late." Work while it is day. The night cometh.
"For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20 If you find it difficult to speak for the Lord, consider the first Christians who said, "We can't help but speak." The need seems to be for more of what they had. "God is no respector of persons."
"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." St. Matthew 5:13 There are too many tasteless Christians who could use a little spiritual seasoning to sharpen their testimony, and at the same time, help put a good taste in the mouth of the world they see daily.
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." St. Matthew 10:32 If you keep your salvation a secret here, don't expect such a royal reception in Heaven. "Ye are my witnesses."
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22, 23 Not only the proclamation of Christianity, but the evidence of it, is important.
"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren." Romans 8:29 If the world can catch the image of Christ in believers, it shouldn't be long in making the conversion. "Ye are my witnesses."
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, 10, I am with you [always], even unto the end of the world. Amen." St. Matthew 28:19,20 You will be glad in eternity that you did all that you could to evangelize the earth. Do it with all your love, might and means.
"So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." St. Luke 14:33 God offers untold blessings for unconditional surrender. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." St. Matthew 11:29 The safest place and the sweetest place is to be in His will and at His service.
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12 "When the roll is called up yonder" we will be rewarded in accordance with what we have done down here. Work while it is day. The night cometh when no man can work.
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26 The man who has faith ought to be anxious to prove that it is workable.
"Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is." St. Mark 13:33 Time is in God's hands; talents are in our hands. We ought to use them wisely before time runs out. "The time is short."
"...who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14 God places us with a purpose, and He has never misplaced anyone.
"For we must appear before the judgment seat of Christ; and everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." II Corinthians 5:10 Every Christian will be judged as to how seriously he took the work of Christ and the worth of a soul. Have you given your best to Jesus?
"...Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." St. Matthew 4:10 Strange and curious gods daily make their appearance in all of our lives to crowd out the true and living God. Let it be known that you are not for hire. It is a noble thing to be a real servant.
"He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it." St. Matthew 10:39 Man truly finds himself in life as he loses himself in the will of the Lord. Make the investment of thyself in the work of God; there are no greater dividends.
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9 The man who majors in doing good will not have bad memories.
"Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." St. Luke 10:2 We need more feeling for the field. "They are white already to harvest." It is important to work for the Lord, as well as worship Him.
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it." St. Luke 9:24 There is no gift like the gift of thyself. The only thing that we save is what we give away. Lose yourself in the work of Christ here, and you will find yourself in Heaven.
"For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward." St. Mark 9:41 Our attitude toward the little things are important.
"Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it." Proverbs 3:27 If you are a Christian, the best thing that you can do for your neighbors is to introduce them to your best friend, Jesus. "He that winneth souls is wise."
"And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died ?" I Corinthians 8:11 The man who helps another find his way is on the right track himself. "Let brotherly love continue."t."
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 The Christian life ought to be full of believing, telling and sharing.
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth shall not be damned." St. Mark 16:15,16 The Gospel is a subpoena, and every Christian is obligated to go out and serve it on a lost world. "Lo, I am with you."
"My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long..." Psalm 71:24 Every Christian ought to have a testimony and not be ashamed to tell it.
"For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20 The man who has met the Lord is bound to tell of the meeting. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy."
"...He that winneth souls is wise." Proverbs 11:30 The best time that a man spends on earth is what he does in the interest of Heaven.
"And Jesus said unto them, come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men." St. Mark 1:17 If it has not been your happy privilege to point a soul to Christ, it matters little else what your achievements have been. There is no business like God's business.
"For I have not shunned to declare until unto all the counsel of God." Acts 20:27 The world has heard too much of the gospel according to man and too little of the Gospel according to God. Man is at his best when he is telling what the Lord has to say. "Preach the Word."
"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Titus 2: 14 God is looking for bold and busy people to do big things.
"...Be thou faithful until death, and I will give thee a crown of life." Revelation 2:10 Be a career Christian.
"...Here am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8 The greatest contribution is the gift of ourselves in the service of the Lord. A lot of big jobs are waiting to be filled by dedicated little people.
"And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." Daniel 12:3 Do something lasting and leave something lasting. Major in the main things of life; all else will vanish.
"...Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." Acts 9:6 God will take the willing worker, all-out for Christ, in preference to the wise ones who feel they have all the answers.
