Spiritual Neglect

"Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love." Revelation 2:4 The Lord's message to the Church is simply to "come back" from our wanderings, get off the religious routine bit and get on with the message that man is a sinner and Jesus is the Saviour, and without Him, there is no redemption. Only in this is there hope for the Church and help for the world.
"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:21,22 The road to decay is often marked by signs of deceit, ingratitude, self esteem and God rejection.
"And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly." St. Matthew 26:75 Tears have been the way back for many discouraged Christians who have warmed themselves by the enemy's fire. He will not turn thee away.
"Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love." Revelation 2:4 It is a costly thing to allow cares and circumstances to crowd Christ out of your life. "Return ye."
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1 We must enjoy and exercise the freedom that Christ has given us, or become subject to the former things that bound us.
"He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." Proverbs 25:28 It is so easy to lose control if Christ is not at the center of your life. "Let the Spirit of Christ reign in your heart."
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." St. Matthew 24:12 One of the great signs of the times is the priority given to sin. "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the coming of the Son of Man."
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." I Timothy 6:10 If you are inclined to be impressed by those who appear to have it made, take another look at what it has made of them. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
"For if after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning." II Peter 2:20 In a world of pollution talk, it makes good sense for us to hear what the Lord has to say about the future a man has who cleans the air regarding his spiritual experience, and then sets out on a "do it yourself" plan. Beware, lest we ignore the pitfalls and disregard the power of Him who is able to keep us. Remember, the Lord, Jesus said, "Without me ye can do nothing..." but we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1 Most of our fears are of our own making, because we have not made Him Master and Lord of our life. "Perfect love casteth out fear." "Fear thou not for I am with thee..."
"And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:21 How many of us have made the same commitment to the Lord, only to lose it in a shuffle of simple things we regarded as important? This week, take your family back to the House of God and get the same good feeling that only a renewal of your faith can bring. You need your church and your church needs you.
"They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel...And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul." Psalm 106:13,15 Many a person has discovered that what they begged God for satisfied the flesh for a season, but it starved the soul. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
"And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel...Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine." Exodus 19:3,5 If the fulfillment of His promises seem to elude us, it could be that we have failed to obey the conditions.
"Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord of all the righteous acts of the Lord, which he did to you and your fathers." I Samuel 12:7 In a fast moving world, there is a great danger of forgetting where we are going and where we started. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
"...Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts..." Hebrews 3:15 The man who ignores the voice of God runs the risk of never hearing it again. "My Spirit will not always strive with man..."
"And the Lord said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man..." Genesis 6:3 Pity the person who, through his own neglect, puts himself out of the reach of God. The Lord has sent the Holy Spirit to bring you in. Don't turn Him away.
"Neglect not the gift that is in thee..." I Timothy 4:14 We need to develop our own God-given talents, instead of trying to duplicate what He has given to another.
"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation..." Hebrews 2:3 Put-off and put-on are two of man's greatest enemies. Give God your answer today to this great question. "My Spirit will not always strive with man."
"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." St. Luke 9:62 More Christians are needed with the forward look. Too much time is spent at the tombstones of past experiences.
"I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for mine anger is turned away from him." Hosea 14:4 Every man knows where he is with God, but nothing happens until he turns around. "I thought on my ways and I turned." "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
