"For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land; for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him." II Chronicles 30:9 As a nation, family, church, or individual, so much depends on the direction we take. Start here - "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
"For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me?" Genesis 44:34 In our great anxiety to see that our children won't miss anything, we should be super careful that they don't miss the spiritual. Lead them to God, and take them to church. Forever you will be glad.
"...Do not sin against the child." Genesis 42:22 To deprive a child of a Christian home and Christian training is to sin against the child. Failure to convert them and failure to love them is to sin against them. Do not fail to consider the child, lest you find yourself fighting against God and His will.
"But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child..." I Samuel 2:18 It doesn't take a grown person to do things for the Lord. He has been able to accomplish a lot more in the lives of many children than in the lives of their parents. "A little child shall lead them."
"Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing unto the Lord." Colossians 3:20 The strained relationship between children and parents can usually be traced to the child's disregard of what the parents have to say and the parents disregard of what God has to say. For a better home life, make it Christ centered.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. " Proverbs 22:6 Some parents seem bent on giving a child everything but a Christian home. Lead your child to Christ. Take your child to church!
"For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?" I Timothy 3:5 The man who would assume some authority in God's house ought to be thoroughly Christian in his own house.
"There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother" Proverbs 30:11 Children who disrespect a good mother and father automatically incur the displeasure of Almighty God.
"Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother..." St. John 19:25 "Mother's prayers have followed you!" If she is still with you and you can't see her in person, whatever it costs, call and express your love to her. I wish I had the privilege.
"Labour not to be rich; cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven." Proverbs 23:4,5 Before one of you has to leave the other, wouldn't it be wise to invest in that which will always be? If it's all tied up, now is the time to let it loose in the work of the Lord. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God..."
"And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." St. Matthew 10:36 Since God deals with people individually, don't be discouraged if even your family is without understanding as to what He is telling you - nor be deterred by what they think or say.
"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him. Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord." I Samuel 1:27,28 Dedicating a child to God is of even more importance than educating him.
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Deuteronomy 6:6, 7 Do you wonder what is wrong with our children today? We have gotten away from instructing them in God's laws. More of the Word of God should be rehearsed and taught in the home.
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31 Pray on! Believe for the whole house. Father, I join with them in believing for their whole family. Save them by Thy grace, in Jesus' name. Amen.
"But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised." Numbers 14:31 It is so often the case that God can do more with the children than He can with their parents. "Except ye be converted and become as little children ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31 Take this good word home with you and ask God to honor it. I will believe with you. Father, on the basis of Your Word which says that "if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven...", I believe with them for the salvation of their family and for any other need that they may have. In Jesus' name, Amen and thank You.
"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children." Isaiah 54:13 Get the child to God and to the Lord's house while there is time. You can be sure that the enemy of all that is good and wholesome will be after them. Don't squander the privilege to worship. Millions before and multitudes now would love the opportunity.
"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Get as much good going as you can quickly! Set some standards, emphasize the spiritual, give the Word of God and the church a place of prominence, and let love be in evidence in the home. God will honor it.
"Every wise woman buildeth her house, but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands." Proverbs 14:1 Look who is regarded as a great home builder. The good atmosphere that a wife and mother creates around the home is priceless and everlasting. "Mother's prayers have followed you."
